Great British Puddings (Part 2)
A favourite of Harry Potter, the classic Treacle Tart that was first baked up by Mary Jewry all the way back in 1899 – there are many variations but this is the version the Bird’s Custard home economists decided upon. Followed by the more curious sounding Café Créme which I always thought was a drink (I will have to try this one…)
Great British Puddings… (Part 1)
Back in 1837, Albert Bird (ironically for the name, I guess) needed an egg-free custard powder for his wife who had egg allergies. And so Bird’s Custard was born. At some point in the 20th Century, the company released it’s Great British Puddings booklet, great for using up the oodles of Bird’s Custard that you probably overmade following your dinner. We will be taking a tour through the delectable recipes so stay tuned…
Bottled goodness!
Bottled milk (as well as juices) are getting a lot more popular again and we enjoy getting a doorstep delivery. Do you think milk tastes better out of a glass bottle rather than a plastic one? It seems to, for me. I hope other things become more popular in easily sterilised containers as we head into the future!
